About our Club

The Minnis Bay Windsurfing Club is a thriving club with members from Thanet and the wider reaches of Kent, with a few odd stragglers coming from further afield.
We are a non-profit organisation, run by volunteers for the good of the club. The small membership fees pay for a few of the added benefits of being a member, such as parking spaces in the council run car park, a club hut for changing and washing your gear, plus the use of the club rescue boat.

RYA Affiliation

Our Club is affliated with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).
The RYA is the national governing body for our sports.
Members who join the RYA as a personal member get the added benefit of free 3rd party insurance.

Safety

Although Minnis Bay is a relatively safe place to windsurf, we like to make sure our members and visitors to the bay are not put at risk.
The club operates a safety boat which which can be launched by proficient members (if available) if a windsurfer is in diffculty. However, in the event of an emergency, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
The club is also introducing a more active safety boat presence during busy periods and offshore wind sailing conditions to improve the confidence of its members.

Merchandise

Specially designed Club merchandise is available to Club members and visitors, as modelled here by these older (but still good looking) members of our Club.
At the moment we have limited stocks of each sizes, so don't wait too long! We will order more of popular sizes and colours in due course.

Events

Throughout the year we hold a number of events.
Social events take place, such as summer parties, Christmas functions, regular BBQs and so on. Often these take place within the Minnis Bay Sailing Club, with whom we have a close relationship and often link our events.

Other events such as coaching sessions also take place.

Club Rules

The Club is run in accordance with its constitution. This is not only a governing set of guidance for the running of the Club, but also includes rules for Club members.
